Update from our last Party Planning Meeting!

A big Thank You to the Gilbert Family for hosting our meetings!


  • The decorating committee will begin on Friday, June 1st at aproximately 9 am 



  • Parent volunteers that have signed up to help with the party on June 1st will need to wear a white shirt, black pants/skirt and a red bow tie that will be provided



  • Teacher gift cards will be purchased.  Who the students will present the gifts to is still being worked out to make it fair for everyone.  The kids picked their top 3 choices but some teachers were not picked.  Faye and Evonne are working on this.



  • Bags and  items have been approved for the "swag bags".  



  • Menu items : chicken strips, taco/salad/nachos bar, pasta and fruit

Attention All Parents!!! You have a " TO DO LIST"

Hello everyone... I'm hoping to reach as many of our 8th Grade parents as possible... I'm uploading Lisa Butterfield's email she sent via Ms Kukla last month to all of us. 

She has received very little responses to her email, so we're hoping to draw some attention here as well.

Per Lisa's email:

Dear 8th grade families,
For those of you who don't know me, my name is Lisa Butterfield and I'm Alyse's mom, a classmate of your child's.  I am in charge of the decorating committee for our children's 8th grade grad night on Fri, June 1st.  I need your assistance to help make the evening an event for our children to remember.   

1)  Photo collage or your child (size 14x22 - available in 3pk @ Staples)  Sample will follow within the next 2 or 3 weeks:
PLEASE INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
-I am specific that I want them to all be 14x22, display your childs name and date of birth.
-This can be decorated however you like and include as many or as little photos as you like.  
-This collage can tell your child's story and include photos/accomplishments throughout their life.  
    Be as creative as you like.  I need these by May 15th.

2)  I am looking for any photos you have from Kindergarten - through now.  We will be running a slideshow during grad night.  This can include class photos, field trips,  
     Xmas performances, award assemblies, 4th grade Rock n Water, 6th grade camp....ANYTHING Tabernacle that includes the current 8th grade class.  I would like 
     these emailed (if not many) or put on a disk for me.  I need these by May 1st.  (I will accept Washington DC photos the Mon/Tues after we return).  

3)  I'm on the hunt for anything Hollywood.  If you have any paraphenelia that you'd be willing to lend, I'll promise to return it.

4)  I'm also looking for a few posters that your child may have that includes movies from our kids era....ie Harry Potter, Twilight, etc.

Update from last meeting

  • Cost of $125 per student is due March 15

  • Thank you to the Esco family who offered to make the $200 donation to the St. Demetrios church!

  • Since the party is for the kids we wanted to get their ideas on food. We asked them to give us 3 choices for appetizers, main dish items, sweets/fruit and drinks. We then took the top requested items. Some of the items they chose were a nacho bar, fried chicken, pizza and a chocolate fountain. The food committee will put together a sample menu and will report it back to the group.

  • There is still time to join one or more of the following committee's:

Decorating Committee-(Lisa Butterfield, Sandra, Evonne, Beth, Junie, Kristina and Fransisca)

Food Committee- (Anthony, Lisa Max, Ivy, Scott, Francisca)

Teacher Gifts Committee-(Faye, Evonne)

Photo Booth/Props Committee

Party Favors/Invitations-( Lisa Butterfield, Brenda, Kelli)

Clean Up Committee

  • Lisa Butterfield presented some awesome ideas for decorating and will be contacting parents soon on how they can help cut out decorations from home. She will also send out some information regarding parents making a collage of their child. Start thinking about pictures you can share. More details to come.....
  • Shane Gilbert is already done with the legacy gift, a custom bench with planters-Thank You again for donating your time and resources!
  • The next meeting will be held on Sunday, April 1st at 3pm.

Hollywood Theme Graduation Party!

*The theme was voted on by the students

Venue: St. Demetrios Church Hall In Concord

When: Friday, June 1

Time: 7pm to 11 pm

Cost: per child is $125 due by March 15th

*checks made payable to Lisa Max or Nikki Watt/we have opened a Chase bank account

We voted on the following:

  • Cost per child for the party is $125
  • To have a photo booth
  • To go with a DJ using a $400 budget
  • Legacy gift will be a bench made by Shane Gilbert

Things to discuss at the next meeting:

  • our budget in more detail
  • the donation amount to St. Demetrios Church
  • Food
  • decorations
  • teacher gifts

New Venue

Kristina Reynolds and the Venue Committee have secured St. Demetrios Church Hall in Concord. This is a great space with tables, chairs and a kitchen! Please save the date for our next meeting on Sunday, January 22 at 3pm to discuss the venue and other party plans. Have a Merry Christmas!

Change in Venue.....

Unfortunately we no longer have access to the Clayton Community Church for our graduation party. The venue committee is close to securing another location however everyone is encouraged to come to our next meeting on Sunday, January 22 to discuss this further. During that meeting we will finalize our plans for the venue and kick off the new year party planning.
